WRIGHT'S HYBRIDS (part 2)
As in the previous feature page, I have
depicted some more of Dick Wright's Echeveria hybrids, that I have in my collection.
With all the everpresent confusion as to " Which is What ? " and who REALLY
knows, it is encouraging for collectors, to at least be able to identify these plants.
With few other exceptions, these and Butterfield's plants are the only named hybrids that
can, actually be verified now.Dr Butterfield was a friend of Dick Wright's father, [also a
nurseryman,] and Dick learned from him in his earlier days of hybridising.. Over the last
two years, I have sent a number of photos to Dick,to establish which are the correct
plants for the name.
Many thousands of un-named Gibbiflora hybrids were wholesaled to other nurseries by
Wright's during the earlier years...those nurseries then named these plants for re-sale,
which in a lot of cases, accounted for me getting the same plant by a different name from
different nurseries. I usually kept the plants by the first name I received them by.
